ABOUT US
THE ULVERTON WOOLEN MILLS

In the mid-19th century, a large wave of Scottish immigrants, many of them weavers by trade, came to settle in the Eastern Townships and along the Richelieu Valley. Not long after, numerous woollen factories sprang up all over the Townships to fill the demand for wool. The Ulverton Woollen Mill still stands as an authentic representative of this dynamic time of growth and expansion at the beginning of the industrial revolution in Quebec, and today, as a museum, it offers visitors an opportunity to learn about the history and culture of rural Quebec. The historic machines are fully functional and our guides await your arrival to make them work once again.
